iRobot Braava Jet 240 Superior Robot Mop Review
This iRobot model is a very capable robot mop.

The iRobot Braava Jet 240 mopping robot costs less than $250. It can dry sweep, damp sweep and wet mop hard floors.

The Braava Jet 240 robotic mop is ideal for mopping small rooms with a hard floor such as a kitchen or bathroom. Its square shape and small size give it the tiny footprint to clean corners, wall edges, under cabinets and around toilets. It is not a robotic vacuum, thus it cannot clean carpets or rugs.

Braava Jet 240: Overview

The Braava Jet 240 is simple to use. Attach one of the cleaning pads and press the CLEAN button. It automatically cleans hard floors without making much noise. Put the mopping robot in virtual wall mode to prevent it from leaving a specific room.

The robotic mop has a jet sprayer in front which sprays water drops in its cleaning path before mopping it up. Its cleaning head vibrates to mop up stains and dirty spots. The water jet spray and vibrating cleaning head are only active when using wet mopping and damp mopping modes. The head does not vibrate when it is in dry sweep mode with a dry pad.  It avoids area rugs while cleaning hard floors such as stone, tile and wood.

The robotic mop can detect and avoid obstacles in its path such as furniture, rugs or stairs. The mopping robot may shut down automatically if it runs into serious trouble. It will also return to its starting point before shutting down to be recharged.

Overall, the Braava Jet 240 seems like a quiet little robotic mop for small rooms that is relatively inexpensive.

Where is the virtual wall lighthouse?

The Braava Jet 240 does not have a virtual wall lighthouse. It only has a virtual wall mode function which is activated by pressing and holding down the CLEAN button for a few seconds. The mopping robot does not go into the area behind its starting position when virtual wall mode is active. It is a simple system that works without the need for a virtual wall accessory.

Will it wet mop dry pet urine?

It might not be powerful enough to completely mop up such a mess. It is best to mop it up yourself, if you are already aware of the pet urine stain. Nonetheless, the wet mop pad might remove some of the stain from a hard floor.

How much noise does it make?

It is much quieter than a robotic vacuum cleaner because it does not vacuum clean. It makes small noises when spraying water and wiping, but this is not annoying to the ears.

How long does it clean?

Its rechargable lithium-ion battery gives it a run time of between 90 to 120 minutes. It will keep cleaning so long as it does not get stuck somewhere. It automatically returns to the place where it started cleaning so that you know where to find it for a recharge. This mopping robot does not have an automatic charging station, so you need to remove its battery by hand and plug it into the power adapter yourself.

Can it be scheduled to clean every day?

The Braava Jet 240 cannot be programmed to follow a daily schedule. You have to press the CLEAN button when you want it to mop the floor. However, this might be a good thing since it gives you the responsibility to check its water level and mopping pad. Robotic vacuum cleaners are much safer and more practical to program than mopping robots.

The iRobot Braava Jet 240 has small dimensions. It is about 7 inches wide and deep and is only 3.3 inches high. It will fit and clean underneath many cabinets and around some toilets, but it might get stuck in smaller spaces.

This robotic mop uses a combination of water tank, jet sprayer and mopping pad to clean hard floors. It sprays the water in front of it when in damp mop or wet mop mode. These mopping pads already contain a cleaning solution. Do not put cleaning solution into the water tank since this might damage the robotic mop. Disposable mopping pads are inexpensive, but it can also use washable reusable mopping pads.

The Braava Jet 240 is a quiet mopping robot. Nevertheless, its internal motors make small noises when spraying water or when vibrating its cleaning head to scrub away minor dirt and stains.

This iRobot mopping robot does not have a home base charging station. Instead, you simply remove its small battery and recharge it with the included power adapter. This is due to possible safety issues when combining water tanks and wet mopping pads with automatic charging bases.
